We have joined in with the city-wide celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest as it arrived in Liverpool this week and made a special beer for the Beer Together project, coordinated by The Rambling Beer Co.
The purpose of the project is to unite the brewing communities of Liverpool and Ukraine, bringing together our passionate brewing communities.
We are one of eight local independent breweries who have brewed special collaboration beers, which will be available at select venues throughout Liverpool during the Eurovision festivities.
On the brew day we were joined by Alex from Bundobust Liverpool and Dan from Bundobust Brewery to make a one-off Mimosa Sour, designed in collaboration with Kyiv’s Underwood Brewery. ALL DAY BRUNCH, is a 5.2% juicy sour ale, based on a dry Berliner Weiss with loads of orange zest, orange juice and clementine oil added to produce a drinkable and delicious orange infused beer reminiscent of the mimosa cocktail, mixed using sparkling white wine and OJ.
As always with Carnival, we've had a special label designed by a local artist, and we're delighted to have back on board the tremendously talented Luke McConkey, designer of the Richie’s series of collaboration beers brewed for Baltic Market.
The project has been organised by The Rambling Beer Co.'s Sarah Hyde, along with Ukrainian beer writer and educator, Lana Svitankova.
Commenting on the project, Lana said: "I am deeply honoured to be involved in the project and to help the European audience discover Ukrainian breweries, especially during these trying times. A little more love, compassion, and camaraderie never hurt, and all of this will be delivered by Liverpudlian and Ukrainian breweries alike in sizable quantities. So come and enjoy the liquid expression of togetherness with us!"
The project launched last week, alongside the Eurovision events in Liverpool. Sarah has been running a range of activities, including beer tastings, meet-and-greet sessions with brewers, food pairing events, and guided walking tours.
We're also hosting a beer launch event on Saturday 13th May alongside a fun Eurovision Final screening party from 7pm. Some tickets are still available from Fatsoma.
