We are building a small but perfectly formed team for our new brewery and Tap Room based in Liverpool city centre.

Our tap room is the showcase of our brewery, which will serve the freshest Carnival beer in the UK. We need a motivated, experienced, honest and open-minded supervisor who can run our tap room, from opening and cashing up, stock taking, and making sure the space and facilities are fresh and clean before every service.

Are you the person we’re looking for? Our ideal applicant will have:

  • A passion for beer and a desire to educate and inform regardless of the customers’ preferences and experiences drinking beer

  • An excellent eye for detail and will anticipate when stock needs ordering, when customers need assistance and whether there are any functional issues we need to address

  • Excellent cellar skills; changing casks and kegs, cleaning lines, venting casks appropriately and ensuring casks are ready for serving time

  • Good analytical and mathematical skills

  • A passion for cleanliness, for ensuring the bar and tables are clean and sparkling glasses are always available

  • Excellent punctuality, reliability and flexibility – we’re a small team so this is important

  • The ability to work alone while remaining goal oriented and motivated without being delegated to

  • Attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills

  • Physically fit and comfortable lifting full kegs and casks (30kg)

We’re starting out as a small team so you may be asked to do other things including: brewery tours and working behind the bar so flexibility is absolutely key.

The responsibilities of the Tap Room supervisor will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the Tap Room is ready to serve customers in time for our advertised opening times and the bar is closed and cashed up once service ends

  • Management of the cellar, bar ordering process and Tap Room staff, ensuring the taps are kept flowing once casks and kegs are emptied

  • Cashing up and updating the brewery’s EPOS system accordingly

  • Weekly performance and management updates relating to: stock control, customer opinions on our beer, incidents relating to poor customer behaviour and effective action taken to remediate any issues

  • Manual handling of kegs, casks, hops, cleaning chemicals, etc

  • Help with packaging duties as and when required

  • Assisting on the Carnival social media accounts to get our message out to those who care

  • Help and assistance in the brewery as and when required

This position is currently a 24 hours per week post (Thursday-Saturday), depending on success of the Tap Room and sales, it’s likely this will rise in accordance with our licensed opening times early in 2020 to a full-time position.

We will also be aiming to open fairly frequently for private functions, and so the successful applicant’s hours will be made up with overtime to reflect any additional hours.

An hourly rate will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

What can we promise the successful applicant?

  • Energetic and vibrant working environment

  • Staff discount

  • Great training and career package

  • Good hourly pay

  • Great city centre location

  • Loads of opportunities to join a small company and opportunities to move upwards as the company grows

The new brewhouse and tap room are currently being built, with the aim to commence testing and brewing in early December. A start date will be negotiated upon job offer stage but it’s anticipated you will need to be available from early December.
